May 2007

Hello. In this month’s news; Tony Blair, John Barrowman, man-eating plants, Nick Boles and cake.

Worth waiting for, we think…

This Month's Event - Weds 30 May @ SWAY - Covent Garden

Thanks to everyone who made it along to the fantastic CC Club last month. We promise we’ll be going there again soon.

This month, we’re back at Sway, one of our most popular venues, and on a Wednesday night for a change.  We’re expecting around 650 people at this, so we have booked a nice large space for everyone. As usual, all guests will get complimentary wine on arrival before 8.30pm; and there will be live entertainment on hand to keep things lively.

You made the Cut – 2007 Pink List!

You’re on the list – the Pink List (click here) to be exact.  The Independent on Sunday this week published its annual celebration of the UK’s great and the gay.  We were very surprised when we were asked to appear as a new entry on this list.  We honestly don’t think we deserve it; and we definitely don’t think we’re a “Godsend” as the piece describes us.  But we definitely enjoy what we do.

The whole team would like to thank every one of our members for helping us make the final cut. From all of us on the team, thank you.

Competition Winners!

We love musicals and cake.  Bust most of all, we love musicals.

This month’s competition winner, Toby Strutt - pictured .

He winsan all-expenses-paid trip to see the fantastic Little Shop of Horrors, with free wine thrown in for good measure.  Congratulations to you both.

Anyone else wanting to see this great show can get best available seats, Mon-Fri, until May 31st at a £15 discount.

If you’d like to go then just drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do for you.

On the sofa with John Major

One of the most prominent gay men in the British government has shared a little anecdote of life at Number 10 before Blair. Howell James, currently the Permanent Secretary for Government Communications, spoke recently at our political event.  He was Political Secretary to Prime Minister John Major from 1994 to 1997. We were also joined by the lovely Matthew Parris, who is pictured here looking as happy as Larry.

Details of our next political event, are at the bottom of this page.

Stonewall Annual Dinner

We want to say a big thank you to Stonewall for introducing us and some of our members to the Prime Minister and the lovely John Barrowman at their annual dinner this year.  If you missed it, here are the photos:

Cake Competition

Anyone who ever says “you can't have your cake and eat it” is lying.  We ate several this weekend down the Portabello Road in Notting Hill.  We even spotted some of our members in the queue.

This gave us an idea for a competition.  Please send us some ideas for events, speakers and venues; and whosever ideas we like the most, will win a nice big cheese cake. Like this one

We’re delighted that we can finally confirm that the candidate to be the Conservative Mayoral contender candidate for the Mayor of London – Nick Boles – will be appearing and speaking at our next Political event on the 19th June
