THE SPEAKER:
We are delighted to announce that, for the next in our high profile series of speaker events, we'll be joined by Ben Bradshaw MP. Ben has been MP for Exeter since winning the seat in the 1997 general election. He was previously a BBC correspondent, covering events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall. Former Cabinet minister Chris Smith was the first MP to declare his homosexuality, but Mr Bradshaw is thought to be the first to have done so before being elected.
THE TOPIC:
Recently promoted int he Government reshuffle, his talk to Village Drinks will touch upon his new role as Culture Minister, his campaigning activities in the gay community, his life and career and his expectations for the next General Election.
THE FORMAT:
The event will bean informal drinks gathering, though all guests will be name-badged. We will have designated event hosts present to help everyone to meet and mingle. We will also escort Ben around the room and introduce him to guests. Ben will give an informal talk about his life and career which will be followed by informal questions from the floor. After that, guests will be free to enjoy the rest of the evening and discuss the talk and network.
